What is the TIL-A test?
TIL-A, formally Test in Laib – Architettura, is Politecnico di Torino’s internal architecture admission test. “Laib” refers to the university computer laboratories. The test followed the 2026/27 ministerial subject framework, while eligibility, rankings, and enrolment were controlled by Polito’s annual call.
The five TIL-A sections
The official 2026/27 format had five separate sections of 10 questions and 20 minutes each. Every question had five options and one correct answer. The test therefore contained 50 questions and lasted 100 minutes in total.

TIL-A scoring in 2026/27
Polito awarded 1 point for a correct answer, subtracted 0.25 for an incorrect answer, and awarded 0 for a blank. There was no single fixed mark that guaranteed admission: placement depended on the TIL-A score, available places, and candidate category.
Registration, booking, and result
Registration opened on 12 June and closed at 14:00 Italian time on 15 July 2026. The fee was €50 and non-refundable. Candidates chose only one of the 21 or 22 July sessions, and the selected date and time slot could not be changed. The raw result appeared immediately after the test and was also published in Apply@polito.
Language rules, rankings, and possible OFA
Candidates could take TIL-A in English or Italian, but enrolment language requirements were separate: applicants with a foreign qualification generally needed B2 Italian for the Italian-taught programme or B2 English for the English-taught programme. Polito published separate rankings for EU/equivalent candidates and non-EU candidates residing abroad who required a visa. An admitted candidate scoring below 3/10 in Mathematics and Physics could receive an additional educational obligation (OFA).

Questions students ask before they start
Is TIL-A the same as ARCHED?
No. They cover the same five ministerial subject areas and used the same 50-question, 100-minute structure in 2026/27, but they belong to different university admission procedures.
Is there negative marking in TIL-A?
Yes. For 2026/27 Polito awarded +1 for a correct answer, −0.25 for an incorrect answer, and 0 for an unanswered question.
How much did TIL-A registration cost?
The 2026/27 fee was €50 and non-refundable. Registration closed at 14:00 Italian time on 15 July 2026.
Was TIL-A online in 2026?
No. Politecnico di Torino stated that the 2026/27 TIL-A was held exclusively in person for all candidate categories.
What is the TIL-A passing score?
There was no universal fixed score that guaranteed admission. The ranking used the TIL-A result, available places, and candidate category. Candidates who answered no questions were excluded.
When do candidates receive the TIL-A result?
In 2026, candidates saw the raw result immediately after the test, and it was also published in Apply@polito. Admission still depended on the later official ranking.
